The IELTS General Training test is suitable for those wishing to migrate to an English-speaking country (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK), and for those wishing to train or study at below degree level.
The test assesses everyday English language skills that you will need in social situations and in workplace environments.

IELTS Life Skills
IELTS Life Skills is a UK government-approved Secure English Language Test (SELT) that assesses only your English speaking and listening skills. This is the test to take if you are applying for the following types of UK visa:
- Family visa
- Extension to family, spouse or partner visa
- Indefinite leave to remain or citizenship.
Test Format
IELTS is a test of all four language skills – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. You will take the Listening, Reading, and Writing tests all on the same day one after the other, with no breaks in between. For the Speaking test, you can book a slot online on your preferred date and time. If you fail to choose a slot within the stipulated time, a slot will be automatically allocated to you. The total test time is under three hours.
